Grey Shed Designs

Grey Shed Designs is a creative studio founded by artist Jennifer Sigley, based in Stockport near Manchester, UK. The studio is rooted in Jennifer’s ongoing exploration of landscape and coastal environments, with abstract paintings inspired by places she has visited and experienced firsthand. Her work seeks to capture the atmosphere, movement, and emotional response evoked by these locations rather than their literal representation.

Jennifer has had a lifelong connection to painting, developing a strong love for art during her school years. In the 1990s she went to John Moores University and then went on to study for a Degree in Ceramics at Staffordshire University, where she further honed her creative skills and visual awareness. Although her degree focused on ceramics, Jennifer continued to nurture her passion for drawing and painting alongside her formal studies, allowing these practices to remain central to her creative life.

During the COVID‑19 pandemic, Jennifer’s practice became especially prolific. Over this period, she completed more than 100 paintings of gin bottles (another story here!), working on commissions for a number of independent gin producers. These included Cuckoo Gin in Brindle, Lancashire, and 1290 Gin in Altrincham, Cheshire.  For 1290 Gin, Jennifer was commissioned to create a large‑scale five‑foot mural for their studio space, translating her detailed illustrative style onto a bold, immersive surface.
